Has your computer done a Windows update lately?? If not, you might want to run this update ASAP! This update contains a patch that protects you from the latest ransomware attack. That’s right, we said RANSOMWARE again!
If you feel like we’ve been talking about ransomware for months and months…..and months, we have. It is just a type of attack that is extremely common. Don’t worry though, we are here to help keep you protected! 🙂
Anyways, this time this ransomware is named Petya and requests a ransom of $300.00. This one sends a message that purposely crashes the computer in order to trigger a reboot. However, instead of rebooting, Petya leaves you a messages stating that the computer is unusable until the attackers have received your ransom.
So as ALWAYS, be extremely careful when opening e-mails and don’t open it if you don’t know who it is from or what it is. We can’t stress enough how especially important it is not to open emails that ask you to open attachments or open links for no apparent reason.
If you suspect something suspicious on your computer, give us a call!
